Maria Irikova (Bedova) from the Federal State Budgetary Institution Federal State Budgetary Institution “Children's Research and Clinical Center for Infectious Diseases of Federal Medical Biological Agency” (Saint-Petersburg) won the competition in the nomination "Neurophysiology”.
Her research is devoted to the development of a system for predicting the unfavorable outcome of facial nerve neuropathy in children. The prevalence of this disease in them is quite high, and the risk of various complications after the disease is up to 30%. While for adults there are criteria for assessing the course of the disease, there is no such system for children at the moment, and this work will help in its development.
To conduct the study, the center has installed a transcranial magnetic stimulator “Neuro-MS”.
